A suspected DUI / DWI driver being followed by Los Angeles police for 10 minutes struck a pedestrian who later died.

An LAPD spokesman said the officers were “tracking” the driver, but not pursuing him, because they weren’t using lights or siren and made no attempt to pull him over.

The pedestrian, a 61-year-old man, died at a hospital about an hour after being struck by the suspected DUI / DWI driver. Police booked the driver, Robert Palacios, 41, on suspicion of murder.
