A new accessory called the iBreath transforms an iPod into a breath-alcohol testing device. The creators of the iBreath hope it will save lives and prevent DUI arrests.
Drivers who blow onto a retractable ‘blow wand’ on the $79 iBreath can find out whether their blood alcohol content (BAC) exceeds the legal limit of .08 percent. The BAC results are displayed on an LED screen within two seconds, and an alarm sounds if the driver is over the limit.
Any tool that effectively prevents DUI will promote public safety, but sometimes individuals fail to realize that they’re over the limit and get arrested for drunk driving. If you’ve been arrested on a California DUI charge, a skilled defense lawyer from The Kavinoky Law Firm is here to help. Please contact us today at 1.877.4NO.CUFFS for a free consultation.

More young women in California are driving drunk and dying in alcohol-related crashes, a study released by the Automobile Club of Southern California says.
Here are some excerpts from the study:
-The number of people who died as result of drunk female drivers ages 21 to 24 rose from 1,037 in 1998 to 1,515 in 2007 - an increase of 46 percent.
-Alcohol-related deaths for men over the same time period increased 18 percent.
-Female drunk drivers ages 18 to 20 were involved in 74 percent more crashes in 2007 than in 1998.
The Auto Club attributed the increases to the fact that more women are driving longer distances and engaging in more aggressive behavior.
A California DUI / DWI arrest carries penalties that can include fines, a driver’s license, and even jail time, so it’s imperative to aggresively fight the charges with the help of a skilled drunk driving defense lawyer. A woman who teaches driver’s ed to teenagers in Northern California was arrested on suspicion of DUI / DWI in Sacramento.
Bathsheeba Thomas, an instructor for Bond Driving School, was arrested for DUI / DWI during the early morning hours by a California Highway Patrol officer.
DUI / DWI arrests sometimes occur after a traffic stop for an unrelated moving violation, although it’s not clear why the CHP officer stopped Thomas. However, police must have probable cause to both initiate a traffic stop and make a DUI / DWI arrest.
If you’re facing a California DUI / DWI charge, your defense lawyer should thoroughly analyze your case to determine whether police had probable cause to pull you over and place you under arrest.
An experienced California DUI / DWI attorney from The Kavinoky Law Firm is ready to review your case and determine the appropriate challenges. Please contact a skilled California DUI / DWI lawyer today at 1.877.4NO.CUFFS for a free consultation.

A driver accused of being under the influence of drugs and sending text messages when his truck struck and killed a teen on a bicycle in Huntington Beach has been indicted on felony charges.
Jeffrey Francis Woods, 21, faces felony charges of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and driving under the influence of drugs. Prosecutors allege he was under the influence of Vicodin and Xanax at the time of the crash.
Driving under the influence of drugs (DUID) cases can be challenging for both the prosecution and the defense, because tests used to detect drugs cannot determine when the substance was ingested - only its presence in the body. The prosecutor will argue that the driver was impaired behind the wheel, while the defense will argue that the driver wasn’t impaired.
If you’re facing a California driving under the influence charge, you need a skilled defense lawyer who will take an innovative and creative approach to fighting your case. An experienced California DUI lawyer from The Kavinoky Law Firm has the knowledge needed to aggressively fight for your rights. Please contact us today at 1.877.4NO.CUFFS for a free consultation.

Shia LaBeouf won’t be prosecuted for DUI / DWI in connection with a July crash in Hollywood that seriously injured the actor’s hand.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office decided to drop the charges against LaBeouf because of lack of evidence. The actor refused to take a chemical test after the crash.
Most California DUI attorneys advise against refusing a chemical test after a drunk driving arrest. LaBeouf’s upcoming California DMV hearing is one reason - the actor faces a one-year driver’s license suspension for refusing the test. And when prosecutors do pursue a DUI case in court, they can use a chemical test refusal as evidence of ‘consciousness of guilt.’
If you’re facing a California DUI / DWI charge, you need a top defense lawyer ensuring that your rights are protected. California DUI attorney Darren Kavinoky and the experienced defense lawyers of The Kavinoky Law Firm are ready to review your drunk driving case and plan an aggressive strategy to fight the charges.
